Why join?

Moving to a new city is always a challenge - particularly if you don't speak the language.  Joining the IWCD is a way of meeting people (other newcomers and old hands) and finding out what the city has to offer.

Monthly meetings

The club 'year' runs from September to May. During this time we hold a general meeting every month in Stillorgan, usually on the second Tuesday. This is an opportunity for members to meet new people and to sign up for any organised tours and events that interest them. Usually at the monthly meeting we also have a guest speaker who will talk to us about something of topical or cultural interest.

Activity groups

We have around 25 special-interest groups, each focusing on a different activity.  The range of activities develops over time, depending on the interests of our members. Last year for example we ran:

  • Book clubs
  • Language conversation clubs
  • Arts and crafts groups
  • Bridge clubs
  • Mah jong clubs
  • Sports activities (hill walking, golf, tennis)
  • Cookery demonstrations and
  • Mother and toddler group get-togethers

- plus many more.
